US 160 /491 Passing Lanes Addition

Project Overview

This project—in Montezuma County, north of Towaoc—has improved safety with the construction of alternating passing lanes (one in each direction) and vehicle turn-outs between mile points (MP) 27.75 and 29.75.

The work included:

  • realignment of County Road (CR) A and CR B;
  • the permanent closure of CR 21;
  • installing a water line;
  • providing greater structural integrity to an existing wooden structure;
  • installing guardrail and guardrail end-sections;
  • fencing and seeding; and
  • adding striping.

By adding lanes and vehicle turnouts, this work has enhanced safety and mobility for those traveling on this two-lane highway.
