US 160 /491 Passing Lanes Addition
Project Overview
This project—in Montezuma County, north of Towaoc—has improved safety with the construction of alternating passing lanes (one in each direction) and vehicle turn-outs between mile points (MP) 27.75 and 29.75.
The work included:
- realignment of County Road (CR) A and CR B;
- the permanent closure of CR 21;
- installing a water line;
- providing greater structural integrity to an existing wooden structure;
- installing guardrail and guardrail end-sections;
- fencing and seeding; and
- adding striping.
By adding lanes and vehicle turnouts, this work has enhanced safety and mobility for those traveling on this two-lane highway.
