Eastern Plains Timber Bridge Repairs

Project complete

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation, and contracting partner Structure, Inc. announce the completion of the Eastern Plains Timber Bridge Repairs Project. The project included construction repairs on eleven timber bridges in several counties. The project enhanced safety for Colorado’s traveling public by reinforcing the aging bridges.

Construction work was completed on 11 bridge structures noted in the Project Facts.

The damaged timber girders on the bridge structures were replaced with steel stringers. The steel stringer bridge type consists of a series of parallel steel beams that support the bridge deck. A steel bar was placed between the beams to create an I-shaped section. Other improvements included upgraded guardrails and rumble strip installation.
