Signal Pole Replacement in Fort Collins and Boulder

Project completed

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin work to replace the traffic signals at various intersections in Boulder and Fort Collins. Work in Boulder will take place at the intersection of Colorado Highway 119 and 30th Street and in Fort Collins at the intersections of US Highway 287 and Mulberry Street, Riverside Avenue, and Timberline Road.

The project will include the removal and installation of four signal poles, mast arms, controller cabinets, fiber infrastructure, cameras and other infrastructure. Lumin8 is the contractor for this project.

This will ultimately improve traffic flow, efficiency and safety for both pedestrians and vehicles at this intersection. In particular, the new signals with protected left turn movements are expected to reduce certain types of crashes, most notably, right-angle (broadside) collisions.

Work Schedule

  • Work will be Monday through Friday, from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
  • Occasional Night work may occur.

Traffic Impacts

  • All motorized vehicles should expect some travel impacts throughout the project.
  • Motorists should be aware of lane closures and lane shifts in the intersections.
  • Occasional single lane closures will occur during pole installation. During mast arm installation there may be up to a 15-minute delay.
  • The project is expected to last until the end of May.
