CO 92 Stengel’s Hill: Streamlined Design-Build Project
About the Project
In spring 2016, CDOT completed highway construction improvements and a grade separated railroad crossing on CO 92—approximately 14.5 miles east of Delta, in Delta County.
Project Outcomes
- increased safety to the traveling public by eliminating an at-grade railroad crossing
This increased driver sight distances shoulder widths. - increased operation and mobility by providing acceleration/deceleration lanes for Pleasure Park Road (County Road 2250) as well as an eastbound climbing lane
Project History
Work started at approximately mile point (MP) 13.7 to tie into previous improvements to CO 92. It then moved east to MM 15.5 on top of Roger’s Mesa near Hotchkiss.
The majority of the construction was done off the existing alignment. Traffic was maintained in both directions.
