CO 7 Cherryvale Road to 75th Street

Project completed

Project Description

CDOT reconstructed State Highway (SH) 7 in Boulder, also known as Arapahoe Road, from Cherryvale Road to 75th Street. The project improved the safety and operation of the highway in addition to adding new features for pedestrians. The railroad bridge near 75th Street was replaced with wider structures to accommodate the roadway beneath.

The project will featured two distinct sections: Cherryvale to Westview Drive, and Westview to 75th. For the Cherryvale to Westview section, SH 7 was widened from two to four lanes with either a raised median or a center left-turn lane. From Westview to 75th, the project widened the road to add a center left turn lane and 10-foot shoulders.

New pedestrian facilities were added, including a multi-use path for the entire project length and a sidewalk from Cherryvale to Westview. On-street bike lanes and improved bus stops were also incorporated.

The project began in January 2012 and had a budget of $18 million dollars. The contractor was Concrete Express.

Xcel, CenturyLink, and the City of Boulder worked in coordination with CDOT for this project.
