CO 14 Sterling Resurfacing
Project Overview
The Colorado Department of Transportation is continuing highway construction on State Highway 14 (West Main Street), between South 9th Avenue and County Road 35. The work, contracted to Scott Contracting for $7.7 million, will include: reclaiming asphalt pavement, placing concrete pavement, replacing the City’s water main and water services, driveways, curb and gutter, sidewalks, medians, installing accessible ramps, and improving signals, street lighting, signing and striping. Concrete patching will also occur between South 9th Avenue and Division Avenue.
Project Update and Traffic Impacts
Concrete work will continue on Eastbound State Highway 14 from County Road 35 to Ballpark Road. The intersections at Springdale Road and Highland Drive will experience temporary closures and detours to allow for this concrete work on State Highway 14 and alternate routes are advised.
Westbound lanes on Main Street from Ballpark Road to N. 8th Avenue have been closed and traffic has been shifted to the eastbound lanes. Earthwork and removal operations have begun and will continue for the next several weeks with concrete paving to follow. City streets and business access on the north side of Main Street will experience temporary closures to accommodate the work. Alternate routes are advised.
Travel Impacts: The project will last through November. From 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., motorists will encounter lane shifts to accommodate the work. The speed limit has been reduced to 25 mph in the work zones.
