State Highway CO 14 Corridor

State Highway (SH) 14 from Ted's Place to Walden is an important Colorado highway, especially for those who live in the northern part of the state. Not only does the highway connect the Western Slope with the Eastern Plains, but it also provides residents and tourists with a beautiful route for seeing the Poudre Canyon and several wilderness areas.

Coal Bank Creek Bridge

The State Highway CO 14 bridge over Coal Bank Creek is located three miles west of the town of Ault at mile marker 149. It is also known as the bridge on County Road 82. Originally built in 1935, the existing bridge was structurally deficient and warranted replacement as a part of the Colorado Bridge Enterprise (CBE), which is part of the Funding Advancement for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery (FASTER) legislation. The bridge was replaced with a wider and higher structure that meets current standards. The project began in February 2013 and finished in September 2013.

High Park Fire Burn Zone Culverts Replacement Project

In June 2012, the High Park Fire burned more than 87,250 acres west of Fort Collins near the Poudre River and Poudre Canyon. Deemed the second most destructive fire in Colorado’s history, it affected several areas near SH 14. After assessing the damage, CDOT has begun both reactive and proactive efforts to return the highway to functionality and keep motorists safe, as the impacts of the fire to the highway will continue for at least the next three to five years.
