Extended Evening Hours Will Help Expedite CO 145 Telluride Roundabout Project

As of Monday, July 29, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) and contractor Williams Construction will extend evening work hours and flagging operations until 7 p.m. in order to expedite completion of the Colorado Highway (CO) 145 roundabout construction project near Telluride. Motorists can expect traffic stops and slowing for construction vehicles moving in and out of the project from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday. The speed limit will continue to be reduced to 25 mph, and there will be traffic stops in all directions with a maximum 15-minute wait.  There will be no impacts to traffic after 7 p.m., and at this time, no night or weekend work is anticipated.

Project Schedule/Progress

The project got underway in July 2012, and is on schedule for completion by October 2013. Preliminary work was completed in the fall, including underground utility work and construction of a project temporary detour. Crews have completed the temporary roundabout, and it is open for public use. Currently, crews are constructing the permanent roundabout. Storm-water management, erosion control and seeding are ongoing activities throughout the project.

Project Cost

The $3.56 million dollar project is being funded through Colorado FASTER (Funding Advancement for Surface Transportation and Economic Recovery) legislation, as well as through state and federal resources. The Town of Telluride is also contributing $900,000.
