About the Project
This project entails repairing and making structural and safety improvements to two bridges In Boulder County. The Boulder bridge (Structure D-16-DG) on CO 157 will undergo deck repairs and expansion device and median curb replacement. Surface work includes polyester concrete overlay, new cover plates, concrete sealer and spall repairs. Maintenance work on the Lyons bridge (D-15-A) on CO 7 includes adding abutment protection riprap as a scour countermeasure.
Work Schedule
- Work on the Boulder bridge began on July 5 with an anticipated completion date of December 22, 2022
- Working hours are 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. Sunday to Thursday and during daytime (7 a.m. to 6 p.m.) hours on weekends, as needed for temperature critical work
- Lyons bridge: work began on Aug. 22 with an anticipated completion date of late November
- Lyons bridge repairs will take place from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Friday
- No work will be performed between noon on Wednesday, Nov. 23 and 7 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 2
- Once all bridge deck work is complete, the temporary signals will be removed
- All constructions schedules are weather dependent and subject to change
Traffic Impacts
Motorists can expect:
- Boulder bridge: single lane closures and reduced speeds will be in place during overnight hours and daytime on weekends as needed for temperature critical work until December 20
- Flaggers and construction devices will be present as needed to direct alternating northbound/southbound traffic through the single lane configuration
- Occasional flagging will also be in place on the road below CO 157 during working hours
- Lyons bridge: will be reduced to one lane, and traffic will be under alternate flow controlled by temporary traffic signals
