Metro Denver Bridge Joint Replacement

Project completed

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation is improving four different structures in the Metro Denver area. Bridge deck expansion joints are used to allow for movement of the bridge deck which occurs naturally in various types of weather. By replacing bridge expansion joints this helps to extend the life of the structure and improves the structures safety for travelers.

The bridges with joint replacements include:

  • Southbound CO 2 off ramp, over southbound US 6 (Vasquez Boulevard) at MP 9.5
  • The bridge over Clear Creek on eastbound I-70 just past the I-76 exit at MP 269.35
  • The on ramp from Wadsworth Boulevard (CO 121) onto eastbound I-70 over Clear Creek at MP 269.4
  • Northbound and southbound I-225 over Colfax Ave at MP 9.88 will also have bridge deck repair

Work is scheduled to begin on at the CO 2 over SB US 6 location. Crews will be replacing the expansion joints at each location and repair the bridge deck on I-225. Work on these structures is expected to be completed by November 2020.
