About the Study

As part of the I-70 Mountain Corridor Program, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) is examining potential improvements on I-70 through Dowd Canyon from Eagle Vail to West Vail (MP 169-MP 173).

I-70 through Dowd Canyon is a 4-lane principal freeway that was completed in various segments between 1968 and 1970. Features through this section include:

  • US24/US6 Interchange
  • Three span bridge over the Eagle River - US24/US6 – Union Pacific Rail Road line
  • Several curved sections of road to allow the interstate to move through the narrow
