I-70B/US 6 Interchange Improvements in Grand Junction

Project Overview
From Monday, June 12 through late October 2017, crews will resurface and do maintenance work on a stretch of the Interstate 70 business access route (I-70B), and on US 6 in Grand Junction. Specific work includes:
- paving
- visibility improvements for merging traffic
- minor shoulder widening
- traffic signal upgrades
- curb and gutter replacement
- storm-drain enhancements
- installing a new, eight-foot-wide sidewalk along the south side of eastbound I-70B

- I-70 business access route between Rimrock Avenue and North 1st Avenue (mile points 4.2 to 4.7)
- US Highway 6 (North Avenue) from mile points 30.1 to 30.7

Schedule
- Normal working hours: 7 a.m. to 7 p.m., Monday through Friday
- Weekend work is not expected
- Late August: Milling on westbound I-70 is tentatively scheduled
- Sept. 5, 2017: Paving begins
- Late September: Crews will replace the traffic signal at the intersection of North Avenue and 1st Avenue
Traffic Impacts
- Speed limits are reduced to 30 mph throughout the construction zone.
- Expect single-lane closures throughout the work zone.
- No vehicle-width restrictions are in effect.
- Alternate routes are advised during construction season.
- No additional night work is expected.
- No additional full closures are expected.
- In late September, flaggers will be directing traffic at the intersection of North Avenue and 1st Avenue.
