Project Overview

On Tuesday, May 1, crews will begin repairing approximately 15 miles of I-70 in Glenwood Canyon between Gypsum and Glenwood Springs.

Crews will begin working on westbound I-70, near Gypsum, at mile point 131 and progress toward Glenwood Springs. Once crews reach mile point 118, they will begin working in the eastbound lanes. Approximately 1.5 miles of asphalt is expected to be removed and replaced per day.


Work Schedule

  • Project length: May 1 to mid-June 2018
  • Regular working hours: 7 a.m. -7 p.m., Monday to Thursday
  • No lane closures on I-70 are expected Fridays through Sundays.
  • No work will be done over the Memorial Day holiday.
  • The schedule is weather dependent.

Traffic Impacts

  • Expect reduced speed limits in the work zone for everyone's safety.
  • There will be single-lane closures for up to two miles at a time.
  • Anticipate delays of five minutes or more.
  • A 10-foot width restriction will be in effect during working hours.
  • All rest areas will remain open, with the possibility of intermittent ramp closures for safety. Any lane closures that impact rest stops or ramps will be manned by a flagger to provide access to the rest area and to ensure safe merging into traffic.
