I-70 from Denver to Vail: Intelligent Transportation System installation

Project Overview

This project upgraded this stretch of highway with the following:

• highway cameras
• weather stations
• fiber optic cable
• traffic detection system
• ethernet conversion of Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) networks

Work was completed in October 2016.

Benefits

There are critical gaps within the ITS system that impede our ability to effectively manage incidents and traffic along both corridors. Adding cameras, weather stations, traffic detectors, and a robust and secure network helps us close gaps for effective incident management and traveler information in this corridor.
