I-225 Widening
Project complete
Project Overview
In May 2012, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) began a safety and capacity improvement project on I-225 between Mississippi Avenue and Parker Road. The project widened I-225 to accommodate three lanes in each direction with an additional auxiliary lane. This project completed the widening of I-225 between I-25 and I-70, eliminating the bottleneck that now exists at Mississippi Avenue. As part of the project, the Yale Avenue bridge over I-225 was replaced and other minor roadway elements were completed to accommodate RTD’s extension of light rail from Parker Road to Iliff Avenue. The project was funded by CDOT and RTD and was completed by the end of November 2014.
