Federal Boulevard Median Project, 52nd to 67th

Project Overview

In summer 2015, the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) completed a $2 million safety improvement project on Federal Boulevard (US 287) between 52nd and 67th Avenues. The project included construction of median islands with street lighting and landscaped planters; pedestrian countdown signals at 67th Avenue; new traffic signal heads at 54th, 56th and 67th Avenues; new crosswalks at 64th Avenue; and lighting under the Federal Boulevard bridge illuminating the Clear Creek Trail north of 60th Avenue.

The project is intended to improve safety by consolidating left-turn movements to and from Federal Avenue. Special provisions have been made for emergency access. Project plans, which show access modifications, are available for download here. More information on the safety benefits of corridor access management strategies is available here.
