South Federal Blvd. Safety Improvements

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation is improving South Federal Boulevard from Alameda Avenue to Vassar Avenue (approximately 2.5 miles). Crews are building continuous raised medians between Alameda Avenue and Vassar Avenue with openings at each intersection. There will be pedestrian crossings at each intersection along with an additional cross walk access at Sanderson Gulch Trail. Work will include median installation, signing and striping. This project was contracted to Jalisco International, Inc. for $2.4 million.

This project will provide improved safety to motorists and pedestrians. The raised medians can help to reduce car crashes, reduce vehicle speeds and decrease the rate and severity of crashes. This project is part of CDOT’s “Whole System. Whole Safety.”, in collaboration with Denver’s Vision Zero initiative aimed at enhancing safety for Colorado’s traveling public.
