CO 83/85/86 ADA Curb Ramps in Douglas County

About the Project

Beginning the week of Monday, May 4 crews be working on an ADA ramp project that consists of upgrading 59 curb ramps at various locations in southern Douglas County. The new ramps will be wider, sloped for easier access, and finished with a slip-resistant texture to maximize public safety in all weather conditions. In addition, the project will modify the location of the pedestrian push buttons at these intersections.

Specific locations include:

• CO 67 and US 85 – mm 190.5
• Meadows Pkwy and US 85 – mm 185.2
• Wolfensberger Road at the I-25 interchange – mm 182
• CO 86 and Fifth St. – mm 2
• CO 86 and CO 83 – mm 50.5
• CO 83 and Bayou Gulch Road – mm 54
• CO 83 and Old Schoolhouse Road – mm 54.1
• CO 83 and N. Pinery Pkwy – mm 55.5
• CO 83 and Hess Road – 57.8

Work Schedule

• Normal working hours will be 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday and work is possible on weekends. No weekend or night work is expected, and there will be no work on holidays.
• Crews will begin work at the intersection of CO 67 and US 85 in Sedalia, then proceed into Castle Rock to conduct work at the intersection of Meadows Parkway and US 85, and the intersection at Wolfensberger Road and Wilcox Street near the I-25 interchange.
• Crews will work at the intersection of CO 86 and Fifth Street in Castle Rock, and then move to the intersection of CO 86 and CO 83 in Franktown.
• Work will also be conducted along CO 83 at the following intersections: Bayou Gulch Road, Old Schoolhouse Road, North Pinery Parkway, and in Parker at Hess Road.

Traffic Impacts

• No-parking signs will be put in place in and around work areas.
• Travelers can expect periodic single-lane closures that will cause short delays.
• These closures will only take place during the hours of 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., and traffic control flaggers will guide motorists through construction zones. Access to businesses will be maintained.
