CO 69 Overlay from Westcliffe to Hillside

Project Completed

This project entailed resurfacing CO 69 from MP 58.70 to MP 71.58 from Westcliffe to Hillside. Resurfacing included 2 inches of milling and 2 inches of asphalt pavement overlay in the Town of Wescliffe, MP 58.70 to MP 59.00. For the rest of the project, the resurfacing consisted of 2.5 inches of asphalt pavement overlay. Other work included replacing just under 7,000 linear feet of guardrail, adding/replacing over 150 signs, replacing all delineators, and Class 2 bridge deck repair with waterproofing membrane on two bridges. The project also included 1/4 mile of restriping/adding bike lanes on CO 96 in Westcliffe, from MP 0.0 to MP 0.26.

Proposed Work Schedule

  • June 25, 2020 - Project kickoff
  • June 25 to July 25 Begin bridge deck repairs and start resurfacing and reclamation of pavement at the north end of the project at MP 70.10, 1.5 miles south of the town of Hillside.
  • July 27 to Aug 28 - Continue asphalt overlay and resume bridge deck repairs at MP 62.
  • Aug. 29 to Sept. 30 - Overlay, guardrail embankments and installation, and finalize bridge repairs.
  • Sept. 28 to Oct. 9 - Milling, paving and striping a quarter mile section of CO 96 in the Town of Westcliffe.
  • Oct. 1 to 31 - Paving, bridge repairs, overlay, guardrail replacement and embankment construction on CO 69.
  • Nov. 1 to 13 - Final paving, guardrail installation, striping and other finishing work.
  • Nov. 16 to 30 - Final installation of thermoplastic, signs and striping.
  • Dec. 1 to 11 - Final walk through and installation of signs.
