CO 21 & CO 16 Traffic Signal Replacement in El Paso County

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation, in cooperation with Main Electric, LTD, will replace the traffic signals at the intersections of Colorado State Highway 21 (Powers Boulevard) and Astrozon Boulevard and CO 21 (Powers Boulevard) and Hancock/Zeppelin Road.

The new signal install will be at CO 16 (Mesa Ridge Parkway) and Sneffels Street intersection in Fountain. Included in the work, but not limited to, replacement of existing ADA curb ramps, sidewalks, curb and gutter work, and minor intersection improvements.

This project is part of CDOT’s “Whole System. Whole Safety.” initiative aimed at enhancing safety for Colorado’s traveling public. The intersection improvements will help move cars through the area efficiently and provide safer intersections and crossings for motorists and pedestrians.

Work Schedule

Work times are as follows:

Intersections of CO 21 and Astrozon and CO 21 and Hancock

  • Monday to Thursday 7:30 am to 5:00 pm
  • For day lane closures: Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.
  • Occasional night work will occur Sunday to Thursday from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.

Intersection of CO 16 & Sneffels

  • Monday to Friday, 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists can expect lane closures, lane shifts, survey crews and flaggers on the roadway, and work will include the placement of new signal poles.
