CO 101 Bridge & Culvert Replacement south of Las Animas

About the Project

The Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor, Lobato Construction, Inc., will begin construction on Colorado Highway 101 starting November 2020. The project will replace two timber bridges with concrete box culverts on CO 101 approximately 20 miles south of Las Animas at mile points 19.35 and 19.98. Project completion is anticipated by summer 2021, but is weather dependent.

Traffic Impacts

  • During the duration of the project, motorists can expect shoulder and single lane closures.
  • Initially, flaggers will guide motorists while the detours are being built.
  • A single lane detour will be constructed adjacent to each bridge site and will remain in place during the removal and replacement of the bridges from December 2020 through spring 2021.
