Project Overview
For this approximate four-month-long project, crews will resurface a 26-mile stretch of CO 86 from just east of Kiowa to I-70 in Elbert County.
The project team will also repair bridges on the highway and stripe the road.
Schedule & Travel Impacts
- Work hours: 7 a.m. - 5:30 p.m., Monday - Friday, some Saturdays
- Lanes will be slightly narrowed in the work zone (mile points (MP) 33.1 to 59.2).
- Expect single-lane, alternating travel directed by flaggers.
- Crews will work on one bridge at a time, starting with the Bijou Creek bridge (MP 31.1 to 31.87), with all lanes open at night and on weekends unless otherwise necessary.
- On-going 24/7 lane restrictions over Bijou Creek around MP 31 33 for bridge repair. Travel is managed by temporary traffic signal.
