At the end of January, prime contractor, Asphalt Specialties, will begin preparation in Prospect Valley to repair five miles of road on Colorado Highway 79 just south of Colorado Highway 52. Resurfacing is the priority goal of this federally-assisted project. Road improvements have not been made on this stretch of highway since 1992. At times, the road has given way due to compromised piping material.
Specific improvements include:
- Resurfacing of CO 79 south of CO 52 for 5 miles from MP 19 to MP 24
- Irrigation pipe replacement in the area.
