About the Project
Crews on this project will replace a bridge on CO 69 in Huerfano County, more than three miles northwest of Gardner. Work begins in late May and will continue through March 2019.
Construction includes:
- Build a temporary road adjacent to the project area to act as a detour.
- Remove the existing bridge (asphalt mat, bridge, guardrail and fencing).
- Build the new bridge (replace steel girder, expansion joints, guardrail and deck).
Travel Impacts
Phase 1: May 30 to July 31, 2018
- Work: Building a temporary road that will serve as a detour
- Speed Limit: 65 mph northbound and 55 mph southbound
Phase 2: Late July 2018 to January 2019
- 24/7 Detour: Temporary road adjacent to the project location, separated by a temporary concrete barrier
- Speed Limit: 40 mph northbound and 45 mph southbound
Phase 3: January to March 2019
- Work: Detour removal, earthwork and revegetation
- Speed Limit: 65 mph northbound and 55 mph southbound
