CDOT Section 4(f) Clearance Process
If a project has the potential to impact a Section 4(f) property, the Environmental Project Manager should contact the EPB or Region Section 4(f) specialist or historian early in project development to discuss the appropriate clearance process. If the impacts or use of the Section 4(f) property is going to be cleared using an exception or as de minimis, there is a checklist form that needs to be completed and signed by the Section 4(f) specialist or historian. If it is de minimis, it must also be signed by FHWA.
Below are two examples of Section 4(f) resources - Dotsero Bridge in Eagle County and Black Squirrel Creek Bridge in El Paso County.
