Bridge and Structure Asset management
The Bridge and Structure Asset Management Unit is responsible for:
- Inventorying, evaluating, and documenting the structural condition of the Department’s structures
- Reporting structure information and making it available to others
- Forecasting the Department’s long-term structural construction and maintenance needs
- Providing annual planning for allocating and programming the Department’s construction and engineering maintenance programs for bridges and culverts with spans greater than four feet, retaining walls, bridge walls, noise walls, and miscellaneous structures on Colorado’s public roads
- Reporting the inventory and condition internally to CDOT and externally to the Federal Highway Administration for all of the Colorado’s on and off-system major bridges and tunnels
- Ensuring that the Department is in compliance with the Federal National Bridge Inspection Standards (NBIS) program for major bridges
- Ensuring that the Department is in compliance with the Federal National Tunnel Inspection Standards (NTIS) for tunnels
- Maintaining the Colorado specific structure asset management guidance in accordance with the latest national guidelines and FHWA regulations
- Supporting the Off-System Bridge Program
