Assist for Federal Training Appreciated

Charles Barton of Montrose, a retired police officer, is working actively to train U.S. Bureau of Land Management and USDA Forest Service employees on the finer points of defensive driving.

In preparing for a recent class, he was assisted by CDOT employee Eric Langford (LTC Operations I at Montrose, Grand Junction Maintenance Section 2, Region 3).  "He took time, while he was busy, to provide me with information and white and yellow discs to aid me in co-teaching my course.  He provided this assistance simply to help keep others alive and aware.  He rates recognition," Barton wrote in a note to Section 2 Maintenance Superintendent Mike Goolsby.

Barton served in law enforcement in Littleton and Arapahoe County in the Denver area and during that time got to know CDOT employees.  "You have many dedicated employees.  You can be proud of your crew.  My best to you all," he concluded.
