Work resumes for US 85 and US 34 interchange improvements in Weld County
Travel Advisory
Weld County — The Colorado Department of Transportation and contracting partner Jalisco International, Inc. will resume work at the intersection of US Highway 85 and US Highway 34 in Greeley near Garden City mid-March.
The anticipated completion date of the project is June 2025.
During the 2024 construction season, crews located utilities and began preparing for overhead sign installation throughout the project limits.
Crews will complete the remaining safety improvements at the intersection of US 85 and US 34, known as Spaghetti Junction. Work includes improving signage and striping for better lane recognition. The shoulders will be widened, and new guardrails will be installed to enhance mobility and safety.
Drivers are urged to stay alert and exercise caution in work zones. Maintaining attentiveness ensures the safety of all road users, including construction crews and fellow motorists.
Traffic Impacts
- Daytime work hours are Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m.
- During construction, motorists can expect single and alternating lane closures
- Please obey posted speed limit signs
- Construction vehicles entering and exiting the work zone

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
