Next Round of Overnight Closures Set for CO 21 Powers Boulevard North of Airport Road
Travel Advisory
El Paso County — The Colorado Department of Transportation will close one direction of Powers Boulevard (Colorado Highway 21/US Highway 24) overnight for four consecutive nights (March 10 to 13) north of Airport Road. These safety closures are required while bridge deck panels are placed over Powers Boulevard.
This is the second of several rounds of night closures that will be needed for bridge construction.
Traffic Impacts
Only one direction of Powers Boulevard will close at a time as follows:
- Monday, March 10: Southbound Powers Boulevard closed at East Platte Avenue from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
- Tuesday, March 11: Northbound Powers Boulevard closed at Airport Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
- Wednesday, March 12: Southbound Powers Boulevard closed at East Platte Avenue from 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.
- Thursday, March 13: Northbound Powers Boulevard closed at Airport Road from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Detour Routes
Uniformed traffic control officers and flaggers will help direct traffic overnight. The signed detour routes are:
- Southbound Powers Boulevard detour: Traffic must exit the highway at East Platte Avenue. The detour route will direct traffic west on East Platte Avenue, south on Academy Boulevard and east on Airport Road. Note: Colorado Springs Airport (COS) suggests that traffic headed to the airport continue south on Academy Boulevard and east on East Fountain Boulevard
- Northbound Powers Boulevard detour: Traffic must turn left or right at Airport Road. The detour route will direct traffic east on Airport Road to the northbound Powers Boulevard on-ramp at Stewart Avenue
