Overhead sign project to begin on I-25
Travel Advisory
Pueblo and El Paso Counties — The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contract partner Work Zone Traffic Control will begin an overhead sign replacement project in mid-March. Work will occur in Pueblo on Interstate 25 from Mile Point 98.54 to MP 98.8, south of CO Highway 96, and in northern Colorado Springs on I-25 from MP 150.15 to MP 150.30, near North Academy Boulevard.
Crews will replace two aging overhead signs on I-25 in Pueblo and install two new overhead signs in Northeast Colorado Springs.
The new signs will increase lane awareness and have better reflectivity at night to help motorists navigate the highway safely.
Traffic Impacts
Beginning mid-March, motorists will encounter road work on I-25 in El Paso and Teller Counties. Traffic impacts will include:
- Nighttime work hours are Sunday night through Friday morning from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Motorists should plan for shoulder closures and single lane closures.
- Occasional closures of I-25 will occur towards the end of the project from 12 a.m. to 2 a.m. to install overhead signs.
- The project is anticipated to be complete in May 2025.
