Concrete panel replacement begins in mid-March on US 85 Business in Greeley
Travel Advisory
Weld County – The Colorado Department of Transportation and TLM Contractors will begin a concrete panel replacement project on US Highway 85 Business (8th Avenue), from 5th Street to O Street in Greeley.
The anticipated completion date is late October.
The old concrete panels on US 85 Business will be removed and replaced with new concrete to mitigate further deterioration of the roadway. Asphalt shoulders will also be replaced with fresh hot mix asphalt. Additional improvements will include the installation of new curb ramps along the corridor.
“Like many of our business routes on our state highways, US 85 Business is also a city street for Greeley … 8th Avenue,” said CDOT Regional Transportation Director Heather Paddock. “This work will extend the lifespan of the road and enable smooth travel for all traffic in town and those travelling through.”
To extend the longevity of the bridges spanning the Cache la Poudre River, upgrades will include deck repairs, along with the removal and replacement of outdated guardrails which can prevent vehicles from leaving the roadway and may prevent far more serious crashes.
