Motorists traveling CO 145 between Telluride and Placerville can expect delays next week

March 28, 2025 - Southwestern Colorado - One-way alternating traffic will be in place March 31 to April 4 during routine maintenance operations

San Miguel County — Beginning Monday, March 31 the Colorado Department of Transportation will perform week-long culvert and ditch cleaning operations on Colorado Highway 145 between Telluride and the junction of CO 62. Motorists should allow for additional travel time and plan for up to 15-minute delays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Work will take place along two separate highway segments. On Monday, crews will begin work in Placerville (Mile Points 84 to 83). Later in the week, crews will perform work on a two-mile highway segment west of the Society Turn Roundabout (Mile Points 72 to 74).

CDOT crews will work as swiftly as possible to complete the ditch and culvert cleaning. Operations are weather dependent.

Traffic Impacts

Work will take place from March 31 to April 4 between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Traffic impacts include:

  • Motorists can expect full stops, up to 15-minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
  • Vehicles will be guided by flagging personnel
  • A speed reduction of 40 MPH will be enforced through the work zones
  • Slow down and watch for workers and heavy equipment

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
