CO 115 Resurfacing Project set to begin March 31

Travel Advisory

March 19, 2025 - Southeastern Colorado - Work will occur from Fort Carson Gate 1 north to Brookside Street in Colorado Springs

El Paso County — The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin surface treatment work on March 31. Work will occur along Colorado Highway 115 from Fort Carson Gate 1 (Nelson Boulevard), continuing north to Colorado Springs, ending at Brookside Street just south of Interstate 25, Mile Point 41.5 to MP 47.3. Schmidt Construction Company is the contractor for this project.

Work will be done in both the northbound and southbound lanes for a six-mile stretch on CO 115. The project will primarily consist of resurfacing the roadway, replacing guardrails, updating pedestrian signals and replacing existing curb ramps to comply with Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines. These improvements will ensure that all current standards are met and maintained on Americans with Disabilities ramps and that pedestrian safety and accessibility are enhanced. The project will improve and prolong the life of the road surface, offering a safe and improved driving experience.

“This resurfacing and ADA improvements project will ensure motorists and pedestrians can move safely and reliably travel through this busy corridor for years to come,” said CDOT Regional Transportation Director Shane Ferguson.
