CDOT seeks public input to improve travel, safety and transit on the I-270 Corridor

Commerce City — The Colorado Department of Transportation invites the public to learn more about the ongoing I-270 Corridor Improvements project by attending any four of the upcoming in-person and virtual meetings.
Two open houses will be held at the Eagle Pointe Recreation Center in Commerce City and two will be conducted online the last week of January and the first week of February. The same information will be shared at all four meetings and the public will be able to provide input at each meeting.
In-person open houses at Eagle Pointe Recreation Center (6060 Parkway Drive, Commerce City, CO 80022):

CDOT and the Federal Highway Administration have submitted a Notice of Intent (NOI) to solicit comments and advise the public, agencies, and stakeholders that an Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) will be prepared for transportation improvements to the I-270 Corridor. Construction is anticipated to start late 2026.
The public is encouraged to attend any of the open houses which will feature bilingual display boards that showcase ideas to improve safety, alleviate congestion, better connectivity and enhance transit operations. Project team members will be available to answer questions and gather feedback.
All meetings will include Spanish and American Sign Language interpretation services and the in-person open houses will include food and refreshments and children's activities.

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.
- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
