Resurfacing project to begin on US 24 from Florissant to Woodland Park
Travel Advisory
Teller County — The Colorado Department of Transportation and it contract partner Martin Marietta will begin a resurfacing project on April 28 along US Highway 24 from Florissant to just west of Woodland Park and CO Highway 67 in Woodland Park. The project has an anticipated completion in November 2025.
The project will improve approximately 12 miles of US 24 from mile point 269.4 (Florissant) to MP 281 (west of Woodland Park). Improvements will also take place on CO 67 in Woodland Park from MP 76.9 (US 24/CO 67 intersection) to MP 77.5 (Red Feather Lane). Work will include milling old asphalt, paving with new asphalt, guardrail replacement, and curb and gutter improvements. Motorists should plan for daytime and nighttime closures.
The new asphalt will add approximately 10 years of life to the highway, provide a smoother road surface and will add durability by increasing the resistance of ruts and road damage. Other benefits of the project include installation of new guardrail that will be 31 inches high, designed to meet new safety standard requirements. The higher railing will help veering vehicles remain on the road more effectively, making the highway safer for the traveling public.
