Resurfacing project begins April 21 on CO 7 from Cherryvale Road to 28th Street in Boulder

Travel Advisory

April 11, 2025 - Northeastern Colorado - Motorists can anticipate daytime single-lane closures

Boulder County – Starting April 21, the Colorado Department of Transportation and contractor Asphalt Specialties Co. will begin resurfacing Colorado Highway 7 (Arapahoe Avenue) starting at Cherryvale Road and extending west to 28th Street in Boulder.

Work on this project is scheduled for completion in late December.

The existing asphalt will be milled and overlayed with new asphalt. Milling removes the worn-out surface layer, and the fresh asphalt overlay restores the road's smoothness and improves safety. While work is in progress, erosion control measures will be in place to prevent sediment runoff and protect water resources during construction.

Additional work includes Americans with Disabilities Act upgrades that include curb ramp installations. ADA curb ramps are a small but an important part of making sidewalks, street crossings, and other pedestrian routes accessible to everyone.

Additionally, the City of Boulder will coordinate with CDOT to launch the East Arapahoe Bus and Turn Lanes Signing & Striping Project, which will convert underutilized right through-lanes into shared curbside lanes for buses and right-turning vehicles only, which will provide improved trip reliability for the existing bus service routes. This joint effort will help reduce costs, shorten construction timelines and lessen disruptions for the community. Contact information is provided below.

This combined project between City of Boulder and CDOT will provide improved ADA and safer connections to the corridor and bus service, as well as necessary safety and riding surface improvements for all modes utilizing the corridor. Partnering on these projects, reduces the overall construction duration and impact to users on the corridor.
