I-76 bridge repair work east of Wiggins starts April 28

Travel Advisory

April 25, 2025 - Northeastern Colorado - Bridge east of Roggen work to start later this summer

Morgan County – The Colorado Department of Transportation will begin Interstate 76 bridge repair work east of the Town of Wiggins starting on Monday, April 28. Drivers should expect single lane closures on I-76 over Bijou Creek (Mile Point 67.11). Traffic will be reduced to one lane in each direction 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for several months while repairs are made.

Starting this summer, similar work is planned on I-76 east of Roggen over Lost Creek (MP 48.87). This project benefits the public by enhancing safety for travelers, providing a smoother driving surface and increasing the longevity of the highway. Crews will repair concrete bridges that are over 65 years old, replace the asphalt driving surface, upgrade guardrail and place new bridge railing over Lost Creek.

Minor travel delays are expected near both work zones. A reduced speed limit of 55 MPH and an oversized vehicle width restriction of 10 feet will be in place at each location as needed.

RDZ Build is the prime contractor for the $3.26-million project. Project completion is expected in fall 2025. Work will be performed during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours and weekend work. The construction schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.
