CO 52 bridge work at Rock Creek requires a temporary traffic signal between MCR 1 and 3 starting April 14

Travel Advisory

April 7, 2025 - Northeastern Colorado - Project will also include 6 miles of improvements

Morgan County – Colorado Department of Transportation construction on Colorado Highway 52 in eastern Weld County and western Morgan County will impact travelers from mid-April through November. Starting on or after Monday, April 14, a temporary signal will control traffic in a single lane near the Rock Creek bridge between Morgan County Road 1 and MCR 3 for several months while crews repair the structure.

The bridge work is part of a larger resurfacing project that will improve six miles of CO 52 from Weld County Road 95 (Mile Point 54.6) to MCR 5 (MP 60.9). Drivers should be prepared to stop for flaggers and the temporary traffic signal. Reduced speed limits and an oversized vehicle width restriction of 10 feet will be in place on CO 52.

This project will improve the road surface with a new asphalt layer, repair the bridge over Rock Creek, upgrade guardrails, extend culverts and install rumble strips from WCR 95 to MCR 5. Drainage improvements and shoulder widening near WCR 81 will begin later this month about six miles west of the resurfacing work zone.

CDOT is committed to improving mobility in rural communities. This project benefits the public by enhancing safety for travelers, providing a smoother driving surface and increasing the longevity of the highway.

AB Underground is the prime contractor for the $5.2-million project. Project completion is expected in fall 2025. Work will be performed during daylight hours, Monday through Friday, with occasional extended hours and weekend work. The construction schedule is weather-dependent and subject to change.
