CDOT performs week-long paving operations on CO 90 southwest of Naturita

September 12 - Southwestern Colorado - Motorists should plan for full stops and up to 20 minute delays September 16 to 19

Montrose County — Beginning Monday, Sept. 16, the Colorado Department of Transportation will perform four-day surface treatment operations on Colorado Highway 90. Operations will take place along a three mile segment near the CO 90 and CO 141 junction, Mile Points 31 to 34. Motorists should plan for full stops, alternating traffic and 15 to 20-minute delays between 6:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.

Crews will work swiftly to complete paving however, motorists are reminded that operations are weather-dependent. Motorists are encouraged to check COtrip.org for the most current traffic impacts.

Traffic Impacts to I-70

Operations will take place on Sept. 16 to 19. Daytime work hours will range from 6:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Traffic impacts include:

  • Motorists can expect full stops, up to 20-minute delays and should allow for extra travel time
  • Vehicles will be guided by flagging personnel
  • Access in and out of intersections may be restricted at times
  • A speed reduction of 40 mph will be enforced through the work zones

The following tips are to help you stay safe while traveling through maintenance and construction work zones.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
