US 24 Intersection Improvements Project Update
Travel Advisory
El Paso County - The Colorado Department of Transportation began intersection improvement work at US Highway 24 and Cliff Road today as part of the US 24 Intersection Improvements Project. Work will take place along westbound US 24 at Cliff Road, Mile Point 298 in Manitou Springs.
Crews will be constructing a westbound right turn lane with an island from Cliff Road onto US 24. The project will improve and enhance safety with a dedicated right turn lane with a raised island for those exiting Cliff Road onto westbound US 24.
Traffic Impacts
Beginning Sept. 10, motorists will encounter road work at the intersection of US 24 and Cliff Road in Manitou Springs. Traffic impacts will include:
- Nighttime work hours range from Sunday through Thursday from 6 p.m. to 6:30 a.m.
- There will be a full closure of Cliff Road intersection at US 24 during work hours
- There will be a westbound right lane closure on US 24 at MP 298
- The project is expected to be completed in early October

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
