US 550 opened to one-way alternating traffic shortly after 7 p.m. on October 1

Southwest Colorado - After a successful tow recovery operation, the Colorado Department of Transportation opened US Highway 550 south of Silverton (Mile Points 69 to 70) at approximately 7:15 p.m. on Oct. 1. The full closure was necessary to recover a crashed semi-truck. Motorists can expect one-way alternating traffic and brief 15 to 20 minute delays for the remainder of the evening.
Motorists will be guided around the crash location as crews continue to clear wreckage debris.
The rollover crash occurred at approximately 2:45 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct.1. At 6 p.m., US 550 was closed for approximately one hour during tow recovery operations.

- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
