US 36 Guardrail Improvement Project set to begin on Oct. 14

October 2, 2024 - Northeastern Colorado - Project is located northwest of Lyons

Larimer and Boulder Counties - On Oct. 14, the Colorado Department of Transportation and Rodriguez Construction will begin improving safety guardrail on US Highway 36 northwest of Lyons.

The work will primarily consist of replacing existing guardrail. Other work will include temporary erosion control, asphalt patching under the newly placed guardrail and sign removal and replacement.

The project's goal is for the roadway to continue to meet safety standards by replacing and anchoring damaged sections of guardrail. These improvements are intended to continue to reduce the severity of accidents in the area.

The work area is between Mile Points 12.7 and 14.9 on US 36.

Travel Impacts

  • Work hours are Monday through Friday, from 7 a.m. to 4 p.m. These times are approximate and subject to change
  • Vehicles will be reduced to a single-lane, with traffic intermittently alternating in both directions during working hours throughout the duration of the project
  • Flaggers will be in place at lane closures as needed. Expect delays of up to 15 minutes
  • The speed limit will be reduced to 40 mph through the work zone
  • The project is expected to last until the end of December
