Signal replacement project on US 24 is complete

News Release

October 8, 2024 - Southeastern Colorado - New signals and ADA ramps to provide additional safety in Woodland Park

Teller County - The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contract partner Arrow Electric have completed the signal replacement project on US Highway 24 at Trout Creek Road and Aspen Garden Way/Paradise Circle in Woodland Park.

The project replaced outdated traffic signals with new traffic signal equipment, poles, mast arms, vehicle detection equipment, closed circuit television cameras, advanced flashing beacons, signing and minor striping at each intersection. Additional work included removing and installing curb, gutter and Americans with Disabilities Act ramps at Aspen Garden Way/Paradise Circle.

“We are pleased that two significant intersections in Woodland Park have been upgraded with ADA ramps and state of the art traffic signals," said CDOT Southeast Region Transportation Director Shane Ferguson, "The new intersections are essential to the quality of life and safety for residents, employers and visitors to Woodland Park.”

Traffic signals are a vital part of controlling traffic in a safe and efficient manner by providing regulated movement. Vehicle detection will reduce unnecessary delays and stops at the intersection while improving travel times and increasing the amount of traffic that an intersection can handle.

Other benefits of the project include the installation of ADA compliant curb ramps at Aspen Garden Way/Paradise Circle. The new ramps will be constructed in compliance with the Public Right of Way Accessibility Guidelines requirements and will provide function accessibility to all travelers using our state and US highways.
