Northbound I-25 closed near Walsenburg overnight Thursday

Southeast Colorado — The Colorado Department of Transportation and its contract partner Siete Inc. will close northbound Interstate 25 at Exit 49 (Main Street), Walsenburg to shift traffic over the CO Highway 10 bridge as part of the Walsenburg Bridge Replacement Project. This nighttime work will occur on 5 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 21 through 11 a.m., Friday, Nov. 22.
Traffic Impacts for I-25 Northbound Closure
- Northbound I-25 will be closed at Exit 49 Walsenburg during overnight hours on Thursday, Nov. 21
- The closure will begin at 5 p.m. on Thursday and last until 11 a.m. on Friday
- Northbound I-25 detour will be in place:
- Take Exit 49 Walsenburg "Main Street" and follow it to reenter I-25 at Exit 52 (Gardner/Westcliffe), as shown on the map below
- The detour will add approximately 2.5 miles and eight minutes to travel times
- Variable message boards, signs and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the full closure, detour routes and other restrictions
- Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change
Traffic Impacts for I-25 Northbound Lane Closure
- A single lane closure on northbound I-25 will be in place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 22, and during working hours the week of Nov. 24
- Delays are expected and alternate routes are advised
- Construction schedules are weather dependent and subject to change

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
