Northbound Lanes of I-25 at Colorado Highway 10 will close Monday evening

Walsenburg — The Colorado Department of Transportation will close northbound Interstate 25 at Exit 50/Colorado Highway 10 in Walsenburg for approximately four hours on Monday, May 20 to perform emergency safety barrier repairs. The full closure will be in place from 4 p.m. this afternoon to approximately 8 p.m. this evening.
During this emergency work, northbound I-25 will be closed and all through traffic will be routed off the interstate at Exit 50/CO 10 with detour signage directing motorists to take I-25C through the City of Walsenburg to reenter northbound I-25 at Exit 52/Gardner W; Westcliffe. Delays can be expected.
Traffic Impacts
Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction:
- Northbound I-25 at Exit 50/CO 10 in Walsenburg will be closed at 4 p.m. today for emergency barrier repairs.
- The closure will be in place from 4 p.m. to approx. 8 p.m.
- All through traffic will be routed off the interstate at the Exit 50 off ramp.
- Signs will direct motorists to take I-25C through the City of Walsenburg to reenter northbound I-25 at Exit 52/Gardner W.; Westcliffe.
- Delays can be expected.
- Variable message boards, signs and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the closure and detour routes

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
