Colorado Highway 10 will close under Interstate 25 in Walsenburg for safety critical work

Walsenburg — Starting at 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 and lasting until approximately 7 a.m. on Friday, May 31*, the Colorado Department of Transportation will close both directions of Colorado Highway 10 under Interstate 25 in Walsenburg while crews perform a safety critical bridge deck pour on a portion of the new southbound I-25 bridge structure. Detour routes will be posted.
*Reopening time subject to change based upon concrete curing progress.
Traffic Impacts
Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during construction:
- CO 10 under I-25 will be closed in both directions from 4 p.m. on Wednesday, May 29 to approx. 7 a.m. on Friday, May 31, with detour routes in place.
- The reopening time is subject to change, depending on concrete cure times.
- The closure is necessary to maintain safety for the traveling public, the surrounding community and the construction crews as crews mobilize equipment and pour a portion of the deck for the new southbound I-25 bridge structure.
- Please refer to the map below for recommended detour routes.
- Detour routes will add approximately five miles and 10 minutes to drive times.
- The project limits on CO 10 are at the junction of CO 10/US 160 and extend from Mile Point 0 to MP 0.25.
- Signs, barrier and construction devices will be present to alert motorists to the closure and detour routes.
- Caution is advised.
