ADA ramp project set to begin March 4
Project Update
El Paso County — The Colorado Department of Transportation and their contract partner KSK, LLC will begin an Americans with Disabilities Act ramp project on March 4. Work will occur along seven roadways: Interstate 25, Interstate 25 Frontage Road, US Highway 24, US Highway 85, Colorado Highway 16, Colorado Highway 105 and Colorado Highway 115.
The project will happen in three different phases, replacing ADA curb ramps and pedestrian push buttons to bring ramps into ADA compliance.
- Phase 1: US 85 in Fountain and Security-Widefield from MP 128 to MP 134 & CO 16 in Fountain from MP 1 to MP 3
- Phase 2: US 24 & I-25 in Colorado Springs from MP 304 to MP 307
- Phase 3: CO 105 & I-25 Frontage Road in Monument from MP 4 to MP 6, and Palmer Lake from MP 8 to MP 9
This project will improve existing curb ramps, gutters and sidewalks so they are safer and more accessible for pedestrians and people who depend on wheelchairs to travel. These improvements will comply with Public Right-of-Way Accessibility Guidelines Requirements and will ensure all current standards are met and pedestrian safety and accessibility are enhanced.
