Powers Boulevard overnight lane closures tonight near Airport Road
Travel Advisory
Colorado Springs — Starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday, June 26, the two right lanes of southbound Powers Boulevard (Colorado Highway 21) near Airport Road will close until 4 a.m. Thursday. The overnight lane closures are necessary for traveler and crew safety while a temporary barrier wall is placed on the outside shoulder.
All travel lanes will reopen by 4 a.m. on Thursday. The southbound Powers Boulevard right shoulder will remain closed through 2026.
Similar lane closures will occur on northbound Powers Boulevard near Airport Road overnight on Thursday, June 27 starting at 7 p.m. All northbound lanes will reopen by Friday at 4 a.m.
All work is weather-dependent, and this schedule is subject to change.
CO 21 - Powers Blvd Impacts
Motorists and area residents can expect the following impacts during bridge girder placement:
- 7 p.m., Wednesday, June 26 through 4 a.m., Thursday, June 27, southbound right and middle lanes of CO 21 (Powers Boulevard) will be closed near Airport Road to place a temporary barrier wall.
- Reduced speeds in the work zone.
- Plan ahead and expect delays.

- Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
- Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
- Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
- Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
- Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
- Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
- Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
- Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
- Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
- Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
- Be patient!
