Eastbound Baptist Road temporary closure Thursday night

June 5, 2024 - Southeastern Colorado - Detours in place, all business access open

Monument — The Colorado Department of Transportation and Native Sun Construction will temporarily close access on eastbound Baptist Road from the Woodcarver Roundabout to Terrazzo Drive. Work will be performed Thursday, June 6 from 6 p.m. to 2 a.m. Work will include the installation of temporary striping at the intersection of Baptist Road and Terrazzo Drive for the beginning of roundabout construction.

Westbound Baptist Road will remain open at this intersection.

Traffic Impacts

Motorists and area residents can expect the following detours in place:

Quik Trip and Pilot Travel Center

  • Traffic accessing Quik Trip and Pilot Travel Center from Baptist Road will have to travel to the roundabout at Woodcarver Road, just west of the Baptist and Terrazzo intersection, then head south on Woodcarver Road, east on Squadron Drive and north on Terrazzo Drive.
  • When exiting Quik Trip and Pilot Travel Center, traffic traveling east to the I-25 Interchange will exit as normal. Traffic traveling west will need to go south on Terrazzo Drive, west on Squadron Drive and North on Woodcarver Road.

Valero

  • Access to Valero from the I-25 interchange will not be detoured.
  • Traffic exiting Valero traveling back to I-25 will need to make a right turn on Baptist Road, travel west to the roundabout at Woodcarver Road and Baptist Road. There motorists can travel north on Old Denver Road to the Colorado Highway 105 interchange with I-25 or south on Woodcarver Road, east on Squadron Drive, north on Terrazzo Drive and east on Baptist Road to access the I-25 Interchange with Baptist Road.

  • Do not speed in work zones. Obey the posted speed limits.
  • Stay Alert! Expect the unexpected.
  • Watch for workers. Drive with caution.
  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.
  • Avoid using mobile devices such as phones while driving in work zones.
  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
  • Be patient!
