US 160 Farmington Hill signal work will continue this coming Thursday

La Plata County - Beginning at 8 p.m. on Thursday, August 1, Colorado Department of Transportation project contractors will continue operations to dismantle the traffic signals located east of Durango at the base of Farmington Hill. This work, which was previously scheduled to be completed on July 25, exceeded the initial two hour time frame. Additional work has been rescheduled to take place for most of Thursday evening and into early Friday morning, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Motorists should plan intermittent traffic holds and extended wait times of up to 30 minutes on US Highway 160 between Home Depot and the new US 550 - US 160 Grandview Interchange. Motorists are encouraged to seek alternate routes on Thursday evening from 8 p.m. to 5 p.m., as operations cannot be completed above live traffic.

Traffic Impacts

Working hours will be from 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Thursday night through Friday morning. Traffic impacts will include:

  • Full stops and intermittent traffic holds up to 30 minutes
  • Lane closures guided by signage and flaggers
  • Reduced speeds through the work zone

  • Don't change lanes unnecessarily.

  • Turn on headlights so that workers and other drivers can see you.
  • Be especially alert at night while driving in work zones.
  • Expect delays, especially during peak travel times.
  • Allow ample space between you and the car in front of you.
  • Anticipate lane shifts and merge when directed to do so.
